i am currently looking for a new job. my americorps term is almost at an end. over the past couple of weeks i have applied for 5 jobs and only received a reply from one--and it was just to tell me that they received my application. it's a little discouraging at times, but hopefully come the end of february i will find something! if you have any suggestions, let me know... 12x12's 01/15/2009

moon·light [moon-lahyt] v. so i moonlight at amy's ice creams on sixth street. most days, it's an awesome place to work. how could you not like hanging out with awesome people while throwing ice cream all over the place??? and when i say throwing, i mean throwing. we are well-known for launching balls of ice cream across sixth street and occasionally over the building... and catching them! field trip. 06/06/2008
i went on a field trip with some of the artists from imagine art a couple of weeks ago. we went to the blanton museum of art which is on the edge of the UT campus. we parked around back, and it was a good thing we did otherwise we would have missed this awesome installation they have hiding back there! according to my co-worker, it was originally at the mfa in houston. i can't remember what it was called or who the artist was (and my attempts to google it have been unsuccessful) but it was definitely my favorite. my day job. 06/05/2008
![]() on weekdays, i work as an americorps volunteer at imagine art, a non-profit in east austin. our non-profit helps artists with disabilities professionally access the arts. we are located in a small house with two offices, a studio and a kitchen. i am one of 5 americorps volunteers here. at any given moment you can find one of us diligently working on the futon, in the studio, at the kitchen table, or in our tiny "office." just in case you missed it... 06/03/2008
advice needed 05/16/2008
so my digital pieces have been up at amy's for about a week and i have yet to have any sales. i know that this is my first show in austin and i should be happy just to have them up, but i would also like to at least cover some of my costs for printing and framing. i currently have each piece priced at $75. they are 8x8 prints matted in a 12x12 frame. technically they are underpriced if you count cost of materials plus hours of work put into each piece, but i'm starting to wonder if i shouldn't sell them for less. i asked a lot of people before i put up prices and $75 seemed to be a good number but it has yet to yield any results. i am feeling a little discouraged. i'm open to any suggestions...please. la-la-la-la life goes on... 05/13/2008
my show is up! it looks great and hanging it was only a huge pain in the butt. the wall at amy's is brick and has lots of holes in it already, but of course none of them are evenly spaced apart. at one point i gave up on using nails and tried to use some mounting tape but that just resulted in a broken frame and lots of cussing. thanks to dominic for sticking around to help me out! gracias 05/08/2008
muchisima gracias to all my friends and family for checking out my new site. i am running around like crazy trying to get ready for this show. i am considering a casual opening event... mainly just inviting ppl to come hang out with me at amy's. i'll let you know if i decide to do anything. |
